The Budapest christmas fair is one of the best in the world

According to CNN, Budapest is fast becoming one of Europe’s leading travel destinations, especially in winter when Hungary’s capital city truly comes to life. That’s why it’s not a surprise that The Budapest Christmas Fair and Winter Festival at Vörösmarty Square has been chosen as one of the best Christmas markets for 2020 by CNN. All these 17 Christmas markets, including the Austrian, the Polish, the Italian, the Croatian or the German, make great destinations for traditional gifts and that unbeatable festive feeling.

The Budapest Christmas Fair and Winter Festival takes place at Vörösmarty Square in the center of the city from early November to the end of December each year. It’s the oldest festive market in the Hungarian capital as well as the most popular. You can pick up anything from Christmas-themed gifts to traditional Hungarian food to mulled wine from the 100 plus stands on display. There’s also plenty of entertainment in the form of light shows, folk dancing and live music. But the exterior of the famous Gerbeaud Coffee House on Vörösmarty Square makes it special, which is converted into a giant advent calendar, with a new magical window display opening every day from December 1 to 23.
