Season 3 of the American PBS’s Places to Love aired this January. Emmy Award winner host Samantha Brown guides the viewers through the wonders of Budapest in the first episode. The episode is 30 minutes long. It starts in the Buda Castle, where she meets with traveler Balázs Gyémánt. He tells us about the differences between Buda and Pest, the Fisherman’s Bastion and of course, the Danube.

The next destination is the revered New York Café, once a favorite of Hungary’s most famous writers and poets. Samantha talks with author Zsolna Ugron about Budapest’s coffee culture. After that she heads to Széchenyi Thermal Bath, a place of rest and recreation. She admired the coronation jewellery in the Parliament and tasted Goulash with mini Lángos in Stand, a Michelin star restaurant.

After lunch, Samantha craved for some classical music, so she went to Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, where she met an American violinist, Joshua Bell. He had a concert that evening. Chief Rabbi Róbert Frölich showed her the beautiful  Dohány Street Synagogue, and she celebrated the day in Café Vian with an atmospheric dinner, accompanied by traditional Gypsy music.

For Samantha, Budapest is a city of music, culture, and excellent cuisine with a history of a thousand years. A city on the border of East and West, full of surprises.
